Found Available Domain of an Older Product? Should I buy?

Postby wcmckean » Fri Jan 22, 2016 10:10 am

Not sure if this is right spot for this question. For a niche I have , I came across a click bank product that doesn't exist, and the domain is available for purchase. It's not a huge list, but there are articles out there linking to this domain that isn't available. I thought about at least buying it and parking it with adsense or redirecting to my niche blog that related to it.

I am not sure how much traffic it gets, but is there a way to see how much traffic is going to the domain?

Should I redirect to my own blog on this topic?

Should I just make a landing page for an opt in?

Thought about making the opt in and then maybe hit them with a survey to see what the traffic wants.

So many options...

I think the most important would be me buying it, and then finding a way to see if traffic is coming to the domain from the other article and links out there.

Thanks for this contest, I think I found something positive about this for me. After I wrote the above question, it just seemed so obvious to go ahead and purchase it to test it. I would still like opinions from anyone on it though. Thanks.

buying an expired domain if its just the normal cost of $15 or less is usually a no brainier :-)

the key to making this work is looking at what is already indexed in the search engines and what is already being linked too.

a handy tool to use for this is our domain tool http://simplesitesbigprofits.com/tools/domaintools.php

you can go thru the indexed pages, find out what there is and have someone set up a page for each one.

another good place to start is the https://archive.org/web/ way back machine tool... this will show you what the site used to look like and what the visitors will be expecting.

then you can put live chat on the pages and see if any traffic comes in http://www.providesupport.com/partner/simplesites

if the site looks good this can work really really well... and you can capitalize on existing page rank and backlinks :-)

as for landing pages and stuff... make content that makes sense with WHY they are coming there. then decide.

Thanks for this info as I am also interested in buying domains, and also reselling. These tools are going to be helpful to keep on file.

Have a questions about selling domains and will post it where appropriate.
